Spring Poems on Google Slides

Flowers, gardens, tadpoles, insects, and caterpillars are interests that children revisit year after year each spring. In an effort to support learning in literacy and music and movement, our team introduces shared poems and songs that we sing with the children each day for one week. We also send a copy home for families to reinforce letter sounds, sight words, and rhyming at home. Here are some of our spring poems that we’ve shared with our kindergarten class in the past. We don’t introduce the same poems and songs every year. In fact, most years the children lead the learning with other interests and we find or write poems and songs to support these unique interests. However, we may sprinkle these spring poems in should the interest-led learning opportunity arise.

The following are not poems that I have written. I’ve simply posted them on google slides for classroom use. Some I’ve adapted them to include more kindergarten sight words. The images are from Google Slides ‘search the web’ except for the garden poem images.

The focus letters and words for “Kinderland” and “Dwarves and Fairies” groups are intentional for ability-based reading groups. Feel free to make a copy and change the sight word and letter focus to best support the learning of your early learners. Enjoy!
