Christmas Gnomes

Our early years team saw these amazing no-sew gnomes on Fabric Art DIY and just had to offer these as an invitation for our early learners. We asked families to donate old socks, mittens, buttons, and ribbons. The donations poured in thanks to our supportive families. The process involved children scooping rice into the bottoms of the sock or mitt, putting an elastic around their body, filling the head with stuffing, putting an elastic around nose, and hot glueing(by the adults) hats together as per child-led design. Lastly children chose how they wanted to decorate their gnomes with scarves, finger gloves for arms, buttons, ribbons, etc.

An exciting evolution since the creation of these gnomes has been the elaborate storytelling children have delved into.
